Victoria Montag, Gambica's sector head for industrial automation, ponders the perennial skills shortage, and argues that engineering needs to appeal to a wider pool of potential recruits to help tackle the problem. Recently, I was watching the 2016 film Hidden Figures for the second time. If you aren't familiar with the movie, it tells the true story of three female African-American mathematicians who worked at NASA during the space race. When the film was released, it was the topic of much discussion between myself and my female friends working in STEM. Not because It's an incredibly good film, but because it put the achievements of three extraordinary women right there on the big screen.
