A Difficult Case of Dyspnea

This case review is about managing dyspnea in a prehospital emergency setting. Dyspnea is a common symptom and is associated with many different diseases which lead to challenging situations for paramedics and doctors, as diagnostic and therapeutic resources are limited. This case report describes a management option and treatment of dyspnea following respiratory decompensation. One option to try to avoid or postpone an intubation pre-hospitally is to begin noninvasive ventilation ( NIV). The S3 guideline of 2015 state the possible benefits of an early trial with NIV, if possible, already in a pre-hospital setting.
