The launch of two new lube oil categories for heavy-duty, over-the-road diesels has end users in something of a quandary. They are faced with a choice of a reformulated CK-4, reformulated to provide better wear protection and oxidation performance while offering a small fuel economy improvement from available lower viscosities. Or FA-4 which is designed specifically for new post 2017 engines where it offers the same performance and wear protection but with a further fuel economy gain.
