THE ECONOMY IS STILL SICK, BUT RECOVERY IS AHEAD

Reasons for optimism exist for a rebound for power generation. Like many equipment segments, the pandemic has impacted the power generation segment in 2020, with many OEMs reporting double-digit declines in sales. The segment is forecast to be down about 11% in 2020 from 2019, with LPG and natural gas performing the best, declining only about 8.5%. REASONS FOR OPTIMISM. Looking forward to 2021, there are many reasons for optimism, including the possible development of a COVID-19 vaccine. Increased demand for home standby sets are driven by a combination of extended work-from-home arrangements and increasing predictions for severe weather. Yet beyond recovery from the pandemic there are still preexisting conditions in the economy that bear considering.
