Environmental consultancy City of Trees unveiled a new tree and woodland strategy for Greater Manchester in May, called All Our Trees. Endorsed by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the strategy provides monetary and environmental reasons forprotecting the region's 11.3 million trees, as well as setting out how future planting can be maximised in relation to tackling carbon, air pollution and flooding."We wanted to devise something that would answer all the questions," says City of Trees technical officer Bryan Cosgrove. "Essentially we're trying to sell the benefits of trees and woodlands to departments that have an ever-diminishing budget so we wanted to be able to express those benefits in terms of assets, and to be able to quantify that."
