AJR Teaching File: Child with Chronic Constipation

摘要

An 8-year-old boy was referred for evaluation of chronic constipation. After review of normal basic laboratory results, a barium enema was ordered to rule out anatomic abnormalities. When performing the enema, difficulty was encountered passing the catheter through tbe amis, and the radiologist performing the study realized the anus was too narrow. This led to evaluation with a spine MRI.
