The speciality chemicals producer Archroma has acquired a controlling stake in the textile dyes and chemicals specialist M Dohmen while Heritage Home Group (HHG) has sold "substantially all the assets" of its Lane furniture business to United Furniture Industries and its Lane Venture business to Bassett Furniture Industries (Bassett). The mattress and upholstery fabric supplier Culp has acquired Read Window Products while the global sourcing firm Li & Fung has divested three of its vertical businesses. Retailer Williams-Sonoma has acquired the technology company Outward while discount retailer Target has acquired the same-day delivery company Shipt. Hospitality fabrics provider Valley Forge Fabrics has acquired Contract Decor International (CDI) while fioorcoverings manufacturer Shaw Industries Group (Shaw) has acquired Sanquhar Tile Services (STS), and announced its intention to invest US$184 mn in upgrading its carpet fibre manufacturing facility in Alabama, USA. The chemicals, electronics and fibres company Asahi Kasei will expand its capacity for producing Lamous artificial suede material at its plant in Nobeoka, Miyazaki, Japan, while the mattress fabric supplier BekaertDeslee will expand the production capacity at its facility in North Carolina, USA, and is building a new facility called BekaertDeslee IDC (Innovation & Design Centre) in Belgium. Econyl nylon yarn producer Aquafil has opened a carpet recycling facility in Arizona, USA, while the performance fibres and materials producer Teijin Frontier has opened a new research facility in Thailand. The cellulosic fibre maker Lenzing has opened an Application Innovation Center (AIC) in Hong Kong and has developed new brandingfor its Tencel lyocellfibres and Lenzing Modal fibres, while the polyesterfibres and yarns producer Trevira has launched the Sinfineco brand name for labelling textile products incorporating its polyester fibres and yarns which are derived from recycled materials.Bedding products maker Soft-Tex has entered into a licensing agreement with Res tonic relating to Restonic branded bedding products while Oritain Global (Oritain) has entered into partnerships with Modern Nile Cotton and Supima relating to its "fingerprint " identification technology. The performance mattress and bedding products provider Bedgear has entered into a partnership agreement with the China-based bedding manufacturer and retailer De Rucci Beddings while the home textiles provider Finlayson has entered into a partnership agreement with Jewel Branding and Licensing, and Mitsui & Co (USA) has entered into a distribution agreement with the antimicrobial fibre and yarn provider PurThread Technologies. Home furnishings brand West Elm has opened a concession in the Arnotts department store in Dublin, Ireland, while Williams-Sonoma has launched e-commerce sites in Canada for its Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, West Elm and Williams Sonoma brands. There were increases in EU imports of home textile products and in US imports of cotton bedspreads and quilts, US imports of cotton terry towels and other pile towels, and US imports of man-made fibre floor coverings in value and in volume in 2017 but US imports of cotton bed sheets were down in value and in volume.
