Representatives from across Scotland's construction sector have published fresh guidance around ensuring onsite safety and sufficient physical distancing when coming to work on sites during the pandemic. The Construction Industry Coronavirus (CICV) Forum says the latest updates, devised to support a phased return to work for the country's construction sector comes after projects deemed "non-essential" by the Scottish government were temporarily suspended earlier this year. Construction specialists are advised in the new guidance to ensure physical distancing of at least two metres between workers on site work or projects as recommended by Health Protection Scotland. In cases where this may not be possible, a number of mitigation efforts are also recommended by the CICV. These include considering alternative working methods on a project, as well as eliminating transmission points or cleaning them before and after work is undertaken. It is also recommended that Covid-19 is considered as a hazard of part of any organisation's Risk Assessment and Method Statement for its work activities.
