Bacteriophages are viruses that can kill bacteria. A question is whether bacteriophages can be used to treat infections in humans. This may be particularly useful when it comes to infections with antibiotic resistant bacteria. A report from the DutchNational Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) shows that current scientific evidence is insufficient to determine whether bacteriophages are actually effective in the treatment of human infections.
