摘要

The Bactrian camel is a seasonally induced ovulator, with an oestrous cycle instead of spontaneous ovulation during the breeding season (Chen et al., 1980; Zhao et al., 1990). Injection of seminal plasma, coitus, or artificial insemination (AI) causes the Bactrian camel to ovulate with a mature follicle. Meanwhile, the luteinizing hormone (LH) concentration in the blood plasma rapidly increases to a peak 4-6 h after the stimulus, which was 2.6 times the basic level. The follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) concentration also increases 2.5 times by 3-4 h after the stimulus. Two days after ovulation, the concentration of progesterone gradually increases and the oestradiol-1713 concentration decreases to a low level because of the formation of a functional corpus luteum (Zhao et al., 1990, 1998). There is a similar hormonal pattern in dromedaries (Marie and Anouassi, 1986; Homeida et al., 1988), alpaca (Bravo et al., 1992) and llama (Bravo et al., 1990) after coitus during the breeding season.
