BIZ: Order: 240 Mercedes-Benz artic buses with Marcopolo Torino bodies ordered for Santiago

Brazil - Marcopolo SA of Caxias do Sul, RS in partnership with Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda of Sao Bernardo do Campo, SP have won an order to supply 240 new Torino low-entry articulated buses on the MBB 0500 UA Euro 6 chassis to Metbus and STP operators (these include Redbus, Express, Vule and Subus companies) all members of Red Mobilidad, the urban public transport system in the city of Santiago, Chile. All units, prior to the Covid-19 restrictions were scheduled for delivery in May and June this year. Jose Luis Moraes Goes, Marcopolo's Executive Manager of International Business, said this order expands the company's presence in one of the most structured mobility systems in the world and contributes to the improvement of Santiago's public transport system. Moraes Goes said: "Since the end of 2018, around 800 units alone have been sent to Chile. The total fleet of the (Santiago BRT) system has 6,600 buses, 1,600 of which have Marcopolo frames."
