摘要

White metal alloys, known as Babbitt, are used for sliding in hydrodynamic bearings. The main objective of this study is to evaluate and compare the microstructure and mechanical and tribological properties of ASTM B23/2 alloy deposited by Arc Spray Process and Flame Spray, with coatings deposited by centrifugal and conventional casting processes. It was observed that the coatings deposited by thermal spraying processes had higher porosity and microstructural refinement than conventional samples. It was verified through pin-on-disk wear testing a lower wear of coatings obtained by thermal spraying processes, compared to the conventional casting process in dry and oil-lubricated conditions. The results obtained indicate that Sn sprayed coatings have properties compatible with those obtained by conventional methods.
