The method involve setting a spray jet angle of the burner (4) in response to the feed direction (v) such that incident angle between imaginary boundary line (L) between focused spray area (31) and non-focused spray area (32), and the main surface (1) with respect to the feed direction is spanned. The burner is guided over the surface in the feed direction. A sprayed layer (6) is formed on the main surface, and mechanical interlocking of the spray layer is provided through the undercut microstructure (2) filling spray particles.
