Cervical Myelopathy in a Patient Referred for Lower Extremity Symptoms

The patient was a 38-year-old male referred to physical therapy with complaints of right lower extremity radicular pain and left lower extremity weakness. He reported that his right lower extremity pain had gradually increased over a period of 4 weeks, with an insidious onset. He recently noticed left lower extremity weakness, stating that his leg "gave out" while playing badminton 1 week prior to referral to physical therapy. He stated that the next day, his right lower extremity pain increased to an intensity of 7/10. He also then reported difficulty flexing his left knee, feeling as though he had to drag his left lower extremity while walking. He denied any history of lumbar, thoracic, or cervical trauma. His remaining past medical history was noncontributory.
