On 14 November 1924, a diary entry, which could have been made by innumerable gardeners over the years, was written: 'Rain and slugs are the main crop this season.' The author in this case was John Charles (JC) Williams, writing in Caerhays Castle Garden Book. Daily entries, written by four generations of owners since 1895 (all now digitised and online) tell the story of one of the most important gardens in the UK.
