Influence of nut sedge (Cyperus rotundus) management on the yield and yield attributes of sugarcane

Field experriements were conducted at Sugarcane Research Station, Cuddalore to develop a suitable tillage practice to control Cyperus rotundus (nut sedge) in cane field and to study the impact of the weed control practice on the yield and yield components. The results revealed that the weed control efficiency (91.9 percent) and reduction of the weed population (16.1/sq.m) were significant in the glyphosate (@ 2.0 Kg ai/ha) applied plots followed by three disc harrowings. Further the weed control treatment had a positive impact on the yield and yield attributes.
