摘要

One of the hardest things as a teacher, in my opinion, is advocating for yourself. For instance, advocating for a reasonable class load, number of students in each course, teacher well-being, extra duties and compensation. It is especially difficult when negotiating increases in pay and benefits. This discussion is made even more difficult when youconsider some of the negative feedback surrounding recent teacher protests. Comments I saw included: "You knew you weren't going to get rich being a teacher." "Teachers only work 10-months of the year, so they don't need to be paid as much." "Money needsto go into schools, not teachers' pockets."
