The Spanish agrochemical industry association,the AEPLA,has launched a campaign against illegal pesticides under the slogan:"Don't use illegal pesticides and report on those who do".It calls on the entire product chain to combat illegal pesticide use in the country.The unregistered pesticide,isofenphos-methyl,was found in several consignments of peppers from the Almeria region last season(Agrow No 517,p 14).Countries from the UK to Hungary alerted the authorities and the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed to its presence in Spanish produce,leading to lost markets for Spanish farmers,closure of greenhouses and fines of up to euro 120,000(158,000).
