The role of women in breaking the silence among men with symptoms of prostate cancer in Trinidad and Tobago

Background: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of death among Afro-Caribbean men in Trinidad and Tobago. Most men present to the emergency services with advancing prostatic disease such as debilitating back pain, painful urination and blood in urine, which significantly affects treatment and quality of life. No research has explored men and their partners' experiences along pathways to diagnosis and treatment for prostate cancer for this population.
