Identification and management of diseases and insect pests of rainy season vegetables

The vegetables grown during monsoon i.e. early July to end of September always keep growers on their toes. Due to favourable weather and succulent nature of vegetables, these are prone to attack of different insects pests and diseases. The main rainyseason vegetables viz., brinjal, chilli, tomato, okra and pumpkin are cultivated at commercial scale as well for kitchen garden. During rainy season, many diseases and insects attack these vegetables. Moreover, these insects also act as vectors of different pathogens. For better management, it is always advisable to get the problem correctly identified to save grower's crop, time and money. This article will help growers in correct identification and timely intervention for the management of diseases and insects.
