Smt Veerpal Kaur-A versatile woman entrepreneur

Women these days have started taking keen interest in income earning enterprises to supplement family income. Income earning enterprises not only help in providing employment but also contribute towards developing self confidence among girls/women.The Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of PAU, Ludhiana, are making strenuous efforts to impart vocational trainings to the farm women free of cost. Many women with the help of these KVKs have successfully started various enterprises. Smt Veerpal Kaur of village Romana Ajit Singh, which is about 27 kilometres from Bathinda city, has achieved success in this direction. Smt Veerpal Kaur (40) is matriculate and belongs to a middle class family. One day, she happened to travel with a girl trainee of KVK, Bathindaand came to know about the home science trainings being imparted there. She was already running a small grocery shop at her home and wanted to further add to her income. The co-passenger girl travelling in the bus showed her the way to realize her dream.
