Mixed bag of results reported for Japanese P&B firms in the April to June period this year

The financial results from Japan's leading pulp and paper companies over the April to June period this year mostly bore witness to sales growth. Increases or decreases in profits, however, were a much more mixed bag. Generally speaking, firms with large pulp properties or those using a great deal of recovered paper (RCP) for furnish did best over the period, as international virgin fiber prices continued to climb and as domestic Japanese RCP costs declined.
