Opteon foam blowing agents for spray foam and cold weather applications

Over the past few years, the polyurethane industry has begun to transition away from hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) blowing agents in favor of low GWP alternatives, such as hydro-fluoroolefins (HFOs). One such example is HFO-1336mzz-Z, sold by Chemours as Opteon 1100 (fig. 1). In table 1, the physical properties of Opteon 1100 are shown in comparison to other blowing agents.
