摘要

In Southern India, tea [Camellia sinensis (L.), O. kunze] is cultivated mostly in the Western Ghats ranging between Koppa in Chikmagalur district in Karnataka (13°18' N latitude 75°48' E longitude) and Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu (8°6'N latitude and 77°36' E longitude). The elevation of tea areas varies from 500m and 2400m. Tea cultivated as a mono crop for several decades and the productivity of tea is greatly influenced by its interaction with the environment, both at the macro and microlevel.
