Parks, gardens and playing fields: the effects of fertilisation on the health of lawns and flowers.

Lawns must be fertilized if they are to maintain a good state of health (resistance to treading and to cryptogamic diseases) and if they are to look good. The use of fertilizers on flowering plants can have an influence on the quantity and quality (colouring) of the blooms. In both cases, and in contrast to the farming world, the use of slow-release fertilizers is recommended. For lawns, fertilization can be carried out in Spring, Summer (rainfall or watering-assisted), and even in Autumn. A rational approach must be adopted, taking into account the period and the intended use of the lawn. The proportions of fertilizing elements must also be well-balanced. For flowers, nitrogen feed, but also potassium and magnesium, play a key role.
