Thermolabile pharmaceutical products require storage and transportation between two and eight degrees Celsius to ensure their safety, potency and efficacy. Within the shifting regulatory framework, compliance can be achieved when all partners in the value chain adopt a structured approach. There are two important updates to the current South African regulatory landscape. Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) (promulgated in February 2015) and Good Wholesaling Practice (GWP) (promulgated in July 2016) have been updated. The former, by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), and the latter, by the Medicines Control Council (MCC).
