Vitol details future strategy

Vitol's chairman, Ian Taylor, spoke with Argus on the sidelines of the FT Global Commodities Summit in Lausanne about today's trading environment and challenges. Edited highlights follow: Trading margins have been tight, the oil market is in backwardation, interest rates are rising, and trading routes are becoming longer. Does the business model of trading houses have to change? I do not think so. It is becoming more difficult, but the fundamentals of what we do and what we provide will not change. I do not think that they can, because this is what is on offer. So, yes - more difficult. But change, no.
