Iraqi conflict unnerves the market

Crude prices increased as heightened tensions in Iraq triggered concerns of supply disruption, although rising US inventories limited the scale of the rally. Atlantic basin benchmark North Sea Dated rose by $2.48/bl to $57.53/bl in the week to 19 October, while US marker WTI gained 69￠/bl to $51.29/bl. Product markets failed to keep pace, depressing margins in all the major refining centres.
