Rosneft's Essar Oil deal nears completion

A consortium led by Russia's state-controlled Rosneft is close to acquiring Indian downstream business Essar Oil, including the 400,000 b/d Vadinar refinery, following approval by conglomerate Essar's lenders. The deal's completion is very close, with just a few technicalities left to resolve, Rosneft chief executive Igor Sechin says. The company agreed to acquire 49pc of Vadinar in October, as part of a wider $12.9bn deal that included the sale of a further 49pc in the plant to a consortium led by trading house Trafigura.
