Petrobras rolls out leaner, greener spending plan

Brazil’s state-controlled Petrobras has released a $55bn business plan for 2021-25, slashing capital spending by about 27pc from its previous plan and reducing medium-term oil production growth targets. The new plan envisages about $46.2bn in upstream spending over the next fve years, of which about 70pc, or $32bn, is earmarked for pre-salt assets. The company’s previous $75.7bn plan for 2020-24 had allocated 84pc, or $64bn, of capital spending for upstream operations, including $38bn for pre-salt.
