IPEX 2017 Digital Review

IPEX 2014 was much smaller than previous IPEX shows. At the time, this decline was attributed to the change of venue from the Birmingham NEC to the London Excel centre and so this year the show returned to Birmingham; however, this did little to help arrest the decline. I visited on the penultimate day of the four-day show and found fewer visitors than I was expecting and that the show was now more focused on print finishing and services around printing rather than actual printing itself. On the positive side there were three conference streams running alongside the show: "Print in Action", "Future Skills" and "DSCOOP" (the HP users conference open to all) but this could not compensate for the fact that most of the key press vendors had decided not to exhibit at this show.
