While some people talk about”trial by fire,”that’s exactly what led to the startup and growth of Armstrong-Clark.The company first opened its doors in 1988 in a 2,400-square-foot building in the Sierra Nevada mountains and now operates out of a 10,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Sonora,California,and has warehousing in Michigan.In the years since,the team has developed a product mix and a marketing plan that are focused on serving the independent paint channel.Company president Brian Carter says the story starts well before that,though.The company’s roots actually date back to before the American Civil War,but more recently,the origins are the result of a common mission and a chance encounter while reading the news.
