Indian steel prices have reported a healthy growth of 14 per cent since June 2017, ably supported by a sharp recovery in international steel prices and an improvement in domestic demand growth to 4.4 per cent in April-August 2017, from 2.6 per cent in FY2017. This came after steel consumption grew 3 per cent to 84 million tonnes, the slowest pace in three years, even as production gained 11 per cent to a record 101 million tonnes, in the financial year ended March 31.
