MW: In the last fifteen or so years that I've been involved with standards, the obvious changes I've seen are the transition from painstakingly laborious hard copy drafts, editing, ballots, and commenting, to predominantly online communities that function in real time with significantly lower costs and shorter timelines; the transition from expensive in-person meetings to web meetings that foster greater participation from all corners of the earth; and lastly, a wider general acceptance and recognition across industries of the value that standards add to the marketplace.
