Farm export boost as EU signs trade pact with Columbia, Peru

The EU has penned a comprehensive trade deal with Columbia and Peru after more than three years of talks, presenting considerable market openings for European pigmeat and dairy exporters. The two countries agreed to cut import levies for some farm products coming from the bloc during negotiations last year, with the overall pact to save EU exporters some 270 million in duties each year. Officially signed on June 26， the Trade Agreement will now be provisionally applied while a formal ratification process ensues -with approval needed from the European Parliament and the parliaments of EU members states and the South American duo.
