MEETING THE CHALLENGE

Leon Friesen, President and CEO at Westridge Construction Ltd. in Saskatchewan, has always appreciated a tough construction challenge. He found his vocation early in life when he was gifted a hammer for his fourth birthday. Aiming high, he progressed from the go-carts of his youth to graduating top of his class in the Carpentry Certificate program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in the 1970's. After paying his dues as foreman and project supervisor at Tricor, this resourceful entrepreneur put down his hammer to take up the next challenge, founding his own firm with three former colleagues in 1989. Leon, along with his business partners, grew Westridge Construction into one of Regina's regional success stories.
