Misspent CAP funds increased last year, EU Auditors report finds

There was also an increased error rate for CAP direct payments and market support, according to the ECA's report on EU expenditure in 2012. The Auditors approved the EU's 2012 accounts, as they have each year since 2007, yet found that legislation inforce is still not fully complied with in most spending areas. The ECA report estimates that the share of erroneous payments last year was 4.8%, more than EUR 6.6bn of the total EUR 138.6bn spent. The rate was higher than in 2011, which saw a 3.9% errorrate, and has increased every year since 2009.
