摘要

Cadmium can induce severe changes in tissues due to lipidperoxidation and free radical generation. Six 2-3 month old female albino rabbits weresupplied 25mg/L cadmium in drinking water over 45 days. At 45 days rabbits were sacrificedfor glutathione, glutathione peroxidase and malondialdehyde levels in kidney, liver andbrain tissues. Controls were given water without cadmium. Compared with controls (P <0.05), glutathione was 46-66% and glutathione peroxidase 45-75% lower, butmalondialdehyde 15-38% higher in those tissues. Glutathione and glutathione peroxidedecreased most in liver (66-75%), but malondialdehyde increased most in brain tissue (38%).
