摘要

The latest Greek economic drama, and the consequent Euro 'crisis', is first and foremost a European affair, even though it has repercussions on financial markets far beyond Europe. The story which is now unfolding is often referred to as a tragedy - in reference to ancient Greek culture - in the sense that some sort of an action has triggered a development that is then driving the protagonists inevitably towards a deplorable outcome. It may well turn out that the outcome of this latest crisis will eventually indeed be deplorable, but whether its whole sequence of events was inevitable is a different matter.
