Indian oil business is a big one,yet only four or five PSU companies ruled the roost here before the private sector got a look in.When it did,two companies made a splash-Reliance industries and Essar oil.Reliance did the unthinkable and gave mighty ONGC a run for its money in a hugely slanted playing field.Essar however,remained underdogs and did its work in the shadow of big brother Reliance.The playing field was hugely tilted against Essar too and it hurt more as they did not have the robust backup power of someone like Mukesh Ambani.
