Agnico Eagle Spill at Gold Mine Site

In the past month, Canadian gold mining company Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM) has cleaned up a significant oil spill at one mine site in Nunavut (Canada) and has been fined for a past spill at a second site. The recent spill occurred at the Meliadine gold mine site, which is currently under construction, with startup projected for the third quarter of 2019. The Meliadine site is located near Rankin Inlet on the northwest shore of Hudson Bay.
