Research collaboration with radiologists and other physicians: How imaging professionals can get involved

According to an article in Research Policy, "Research collaboration has been a phenomenon of growing importance for scientists, research organizations, and policy makers." As a member of the Radiologic Technology Editorial Review Board, I have often encouraged imaging professionals to collaborate on research and publication. As an educator, I also have encouraged my students to seek research and publication opportunities with radiologists and other physicians. "It is widely assumed that collaboration in research is 'a good thing' and that it should be encouraged." The problem is that as imaging professionals, we often are not sure where to start.
