Indian autogas industry calls on government to cut tax

India's autogas sector has urged the government to lower tax on the fuel to stem declining demand in the country. Trade association the Indian Auto LPG Coalition wants a 5pc goods and services tax (GST) on autogas and conversion kits, down from a respective 18pc and 28pc now. Competing transport fuels such as diesel and gasoline fall outside the nationwide GST, and are taxed at more than 45pc in some states. LPG is taxed at 5pc for residential consumption.
