Spain’s wood pellet association Apropellets has recommended that the Spanish government grants biomass value-added tax (VAT) and property tax reductions. Wood pellets used in residential biomass burners should receive a reduced VAT rate of 7pc, down from Spain’s current VAT rate for pellets of 21pc, Apropellets said. And households that use biomass heating installations should have their property tax cut to half the current rate, it said. Property tax in Spain varies based on the value and size of the property.
