Mountain Valley Pipeline(MVP)is close to overcoming another obstacle now that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission(FERC)has closed an unusually raucous comment period on a request to extend MVP's certificate for another two years.But it is insurance the company hopes it never needs as it moves to start operations on the stalled project early next year.MVP has 8% of the line still to complete before it wraps up work on the 300 mile project from Bradshaw,West Virginia,to an interconnect with the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line system in Pittsylvania County,Virginia.But sponsor Equitrans Midstream faces some high hurdles in getting it across the finish line,with regulatory and legal issues keeping work at a standstill for almost a year now.
