Gulf of Mexico Gas Decline Stanched for Now as Oil Production Ramps Up

For 20 years,gas production has been declining in the US Gulf of Mexico,especially in the wake of two devastating hurricane seasons in 2004-05 that eradicated billions of cubic feet per day of legacy production.But something is stirring that might at least stanch that decline as oil output from North America's premier deepwater region has quietly been increasing since 2013 — and is likely to continue growing this year and next.
