There is an enormous interest in developing safe, cost-effective and environment-friendly technologies for synthesis of nano-materials by microorganisms. The biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), using the endophytic fungus Fusarium oxysporum from ginseng, is reported in this study. The synthesis was performed in the laboratory at room temperature. UV-visible spectrophotometry, X-ray, and transmission electron microscopy were applied to ascertain the formation of AgNPs. The synthesized AgNPs were exceptionally stable at room temperature. Neutral pH favored the formation of AgNPs, and elevated temperature accelerated the reduction process. Synthesis of such eco-friendly nanoparticles makes this method potentially exciting for large-scale production.
