Today, we find ourselves almost two decades into this new century, and the landscape of the energy industry has vastly changed and continues to rapidly evolve. The emergence and incorporation of new technologies into everyday business ensures that the industry will continue to grow, often in manners unanticipated even a few years ago, while morphing cybersecurity threats represent new risks that must be accounted for. Since its inception over 20 years ago, the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) has sought to assist the wholesale and retail gas and electric industries in navigating these ever-changing waters by developing standards that promote increased efficiency and competition while streamlining business processes.
