Background: In locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC), beyond total mesorectal excision (bTME) is often necessary to obtain complete resection (RO). The aim of this study was to identify prognostic determinants and compare morbidity and survival in LARC cases requiring bTME or TME surgery.
