Digital Meets Handmade: Conversations about Jewelry, Technology, and Education

IN MAY 2018, the Jewelry Design Department of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and the Jewelry and Accessories Division of the Politecnico di Milano collaborated to present the international symposium "Digital Meets Handmade: Jewelry in the 21st Century" at FIT in New York City. As planners of the event, we hoped to provide avenue for discussion of the friction between jewelry's "digital" and "handmade" influences, and stimulate conversation between artisans, the maker movement, and the digital engineering sector.
